Collected data in Abidjan in an area that is the outskirts before you get to the main part of the city. It's packed with people and sits along a busy highway. Basically it's shack type housing and is very dusty, dirty, and poor. But, the people were awesome and I felt like a small time celebrity. I went to the store and then sat at a cafe, again in the dirt with chickens and goats, and before I knew it a guy from the store came over and said he needed my number for people there. Then a guy in pseudo-military gear with fake Rayban aviators rolled in burning cigarettes and pounding beers and he immediately bought me another Sprite and then told me I should be drinking beer. Probably right. The kids got a kick out of me and a lot of people seemed to be intrigued that I was there. Caught the local van home and then a cab to my place and now I'm sitting with no power, sweating bullets, and writing on my blog while the kids play in the other room.
