Finished the data collection in a big bustling area of Abidjan called Abobo. It feels good to be done with this first project and I am ready to move on to the next one although I still have to collect data for this one in Uganda.
Abobo was very interesting and I felt very welcome there. We started our day in a small cafe where some young girls were hanging out/working. They were taking out the empty bottles to the truck for recycling and of course they were not in school. Huge problem. Way too many kids working and not in school but when you need money and the schools are way too crowded the opportunity cost of going to school becomes too much. I bought the girls a round of cokes and they were very excited.
