Across the street (think dirt road with potholes) from my place there are a ton of kids who live in a very poor compound type place or small village I guess (i.e., lots of shacks). They are literally dirt poor but they are very curious about me, very friendly, and every time I pass by them come to see me. This is a lot of fun and I get to practice my french with them. C'est bon.
Having lots of kids around is great and I am going to buy them a soccer ball so we can have games outside. But, when one of them comes up to you and says, "Puis je manger avec vous?" (Can I eat with you?) and rubs him stomach things suddenly become a little complicated. If I say yes, which I want to so badly, I feel good about giving this kid food and making him happy, but then I've got every kid within miles eating at my place. Tough decisions. I'm going to have to figure something out, but whatever happens with the food I have a feeling that I am going to have a lot of fun with these kids.
